Why do we stress ourselves with the burden of purchasing expensive, often unneeded gifts during this season of the year? Well, gift giving seems to have begun with the Christmas story when the three Wise Men visited the Christ child. They brought gifts of gold, frank and myrrh and the gift giving began. But it really began that night in a stable when God sent His Son born of a virgin. God gave to us a Redeemer, a perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. Eternal life is offered freely upon the acceptance of His Son, Jesus Christ. The meaning of gift giving was originally to give out of love, but often today giving is expecting something in return. This Christmas think about why you give and let it be an extension of the love God showered on us when He sent His Son to earth to teach us how to love, live and give. His gift is free.... what could be better??
