Every year I get quite impatient for God to begin waking up the earth. There is just something about seeing the bulbs starting to burst through the ground, the tree limbs showing signs of budding and the grass turning an amazing shade of green that ignites my soul to begin singing! And let's never forget the birds' song from early morning throughout the day!
As I have used an example similar to this one to teach a lesson about God as our Creator each Spring, I have an urge to share a bit more of my heart's desire....that of a new life in Christ Jesus. Now before you stop reading or decide that I'm a Jesus Freak (although I am one), please read on and here's why. If you had a piece of good news that you felt would alter a friend's life for the better...wouldn't you? Or would you quietly keep it to yourself and admit that it's not really your place and your friend might not receive your news as you would hope, in fact, they might decide they didn't want to be your friend?
I've played that game in my head more times than I can count. I don't want to step on anyone's toes so I go through my relationship with some of those I care deeply about as if I were walking on eggshells. And for what purpose? You see, it's simple really. We were given this life not by chance, but by divine appointment. The Bible clearly states in Psalm 139 that our Lord knows all about us...every single detail. In fact, He knew all our days before one of them came into being. That doesn't sound like an accident by my parents on one crazy night. It sounds like they were the conduits through whom God used to get me here.
As such, God planned for me and has a purpose for my life. My experiences, my educational efforts, my lifestyle, my family....everything was a part of assembling me into the woman I am today. The Christian parents that groomed my spiritual life were no accident. I loved my daddy, but I would have to admit that my spiritual mentor is my mother. At 95, almost 96 years of age and with increasing dementia, my mama can pray like no other. In fact, if you go to my Facebook page you will hear her pray the last time I visited just a few days ago.
But here's the point. God created me, gave me the experiences and life altering encounters I have walked because they are part of my ministry, my testimony and it needs to be shared. So here goes. I love Jesus Christ and I am His follower. From this point on in my life I have no idea where this will lead. God has blessed me with a faithful, loving and God fearing husband who is on board with that commitment. We want to tell others that Jesus loves them and that He loves them so much He has given His only Son, Jesus, to die for their sins. This is the time of year we think a little more about the Cross of Calvary. We might watch the movie, The Passion of the Christ, go to a passion play at a local church, sing uplifting songs on Easter morning, but what happens after Easter? Is it all about taking your kids to an Easter egg hunt or possibly coloring Easter eggs and not revealing the true meaning of what is being celebrated? This is a major celebration for the Christian faith, folks. Jesus died and has risen from that grave! He has accomplished victory over death!!!
So why shouldn't I share my faith, my heartbeat, my love for my Savior with anyone and everyone who will listen to the sound of my voice or read a small devotional I have written. You see, I don't do it for financial gain or to be a popular speaker....I proclaim this good news because it's true. Jesus loves you. Jesus wants you to be a follower of His. When you give your heart and life to Jesus, He will fill your heart with joy unspeakable and a peace that passes all understanding. Then one day He will take you by the hand and lead you into the Promised Land of Heaven.
I believe this with all that I am. I don't understand it all, I can't it explain it all, but I believe it all because I believe in Jesus Christ and He doesn't lie.
Thank you for reading....may God bless your days in the upcoming month that includes the beginning of Spring, a new beginning in Christ Jesus!
