And a New Year begins....welcome 2012!
As January begins, it gives us an opportunity to start the year with a clean slate. Reminds me of new fallen snow before it becomes marked with various animal footprints. So what will we do with this gift of a "do-over"? Will we explore uncharted territory? Will we lose weight? Will we seek to re-invented ourselves through education or new job opportunities or careers?
This year why not seek to serve others? Using the operative word "serve" see what can be done for those in need:
Submit to the voice of the Lord when He nudges you to do something selfless for another.
Enjoy the opportunity to be a blessing to one who is unaware that you were the mode used in answered prayer..
Read God's Word daily and learn from the Master how to carry out God's commands concerning others.
Value your brothers and sisters in Christ - doing unto others as you would have them do for you.
Enter this New Year with a new attitude of servitude and not one of being served.
I pray this will be a prosperous year of personal and spiritual growth. Join us throughout the new year as we explore new ways to serve our readers on The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries' website. We appreciate your support, participation and encouragement, but most of all your prayers for God's guidance and direction! Happy New Year, friends!

My heartfelt thanks for another great year!
As we enter this season of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, I'd like to take a few moments and thank each one of you for your kind words of encouragement, prayers and continued support during the past year. As The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries attempts to expand and grow under God's guiding hand, it is my desire to place this entire effort at the foot of the Cross.
I appreciate those of you who have followed the Bucket List Bible Study this year and pray that you have gathered many nuggets during our time together. I have grown spiritually and so appreciate Jan Mackowiak's "nudge" to get this study rolling two years ago.
While we hold this ministry before the Lord, we are also looking for ways to better serve Him and those readers and participants He leads to our website. We would like to change our venue beginning in January to detour from Leviticus and possibly teach a topical study for 2012. Please send me your thoughts if you have a few minutes and let me know what you might like to study in the New Year. You can write me at tsbtm@comcast.net or The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries Facebook page.
Also, we made available the Genesis material at the conclusion of 2010. If you would like the Exodus material, please let me know so that I might get it bound into a spiral notebook for your convenience.
Once again, thank you for your support and I treasure your prayers for me and the ministry God has entrusted into my care.
God bless, my friends!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
In Him,
Cookie White

The study material covered in the Book of Genesis is available!
When Gary and I returned this Spring from Florida, he joined me once again and we began to pray for God's leading in the direction of the ministry. Several of the participants from the Bucket List Bible Study had asked if I would look into printing our study from the book of Genesis that we completed last December, 2010. I agreed and after a period of editing the fifty chapters and finding a local publisher, we now have the booklet for purchase.
Each chapter carries comments on the material covered and answers questions posed for more indepth study and/or discussion. There is a space available for answers or additional comments. The booklet is easy to understand and can be completed on an individual or group basis.
The booklet is being offered for $10.00 each, plus shipping and handling. Please contact me through the website's contact information tsbtm@comcast.net or feel free to call me at the number listed on the contact link.
I would also ask that you pray as I enter another season of writing. After more nudgings as only the Holy Spirit can do, I have begun another book with an entirely different format. Please pray that God's Will be done with this writing as I feel it is so important in today's society. It will consume a lot of time and effort and I pray the honor and glory goes to the Lord! Thanks, my friends and God bless!

Cookie has received several comments written about her devotional book,
And I Heard God Whisper, "Walk with Me"
"Cookie writes just as she speaks...with enthusiasm, conviction and humor.
Her devotional thoughts expressed in this little collection were among ones I heard her mention when she and her husband taught our Sunday School Class at the church we attend together. I enjoyed seeing them confirmed in print.
As we have each experienced breast cancer, we have been drawn closer to each other and closer to the Lord."
-Vaughn Chapman
"After the first few pages I could see so clearly what a wonderful Christian lady you have grown into. How God is using you to reach so many women and your willingness to be so honest and open about your own personal walk with Him. I know I will read your book over again. You touched a bunch of soft spots in my own heart. I only wish my child could read it too. Maybe God is giving her a glimpse of how close you are and how close others will be to Him by reading this book...Do not stop writing...I am so very happy for you, Cookie and wish you all the success in the world."
-Betty Lillard (mother of Cookie’s close departed friend, Kathy)
"Every chapter I read is so very good! The Dandelion chapter reminded me of my grandmother. She would pull up the spring dandelions and cook the 'greens' to enjoy! Now when I take my mother out to walk and she sees those yellow flowers, she comments that 'we really ought to pick them' even though they'd be tough to eat at this time of year!!
So now I'm on the Wallpaper chapter. When I finish then I think I'll reread the whole book and follow your directions re people to pray for, etc.
Your words are pure, right and good and remind us to be 'real' when we present Christ in action and word. I love your sense of humor and can 'hear' you speak in those words."
-Joanne Earley
"The last time I wrote, I had not read the Willa chapter...thank you so much for your kindness in including me in your wonderful book. We used the Proverbs 31st chapter at my Mom's funeral. She certainly deserved the tribute...she was the most wonderful Mom and I still miss her and think about her so much. I am so honored that you wrote about me, Cookie. The Lord is really teaching me a lot of things here lately...I am trying to slow down enough to listen. I do wish I wasn't such a busy person...I know the only person that can make a difference in this is "me." The things I am doing are mostly good, but I need to Be Still."
-Willa Pedley
"Cookie, your book is great! Daryl laughed at me for reading it all in one sitting.
I especially liked your inspirational visit with the dental hygienist!!"
-Amy Rankin (Cookie’s dental hygienist sister-in-law)
"I used to go to bed with my crossword puzzles, then, in the winter, I would take a novel. But since last Sun., I am now taking my daughter-in-law to bed with me. Her recently published book of devotionals is great reading. I know Cookie spent many hours, days and months compiling her thoughts and reverence to our Lord. You easily identify that her writings are homespun and from her heart. Great job. XOXO"
-Anne White (Cookie’s “favorite” mother-in-law)
As written on the back cover of her book, "Whether I'm in the dentist chair, walking on our local trail, exercising in body sculpting class or walking through the waters of breast cancer, the Holy Spirit transforms my daily activities into spiritual learning events."
"Tucked within these pages (of the book) are devotionals written from firsthand experiences, as common as apple pie, to demonstrate God does speak, we only need to listen."
The book can be purchased at xulonpress.com; barnesandnoble.com; amazon.com or through The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries website.
Book reviews will be posted on this site as soon as they become available.

The following article appeared in our local newspaper, The Almanac, concerning the devotional book:
Peters Twp. woman writes inspirational book
By PJ Rittiger For The Almanac writer@thealmanac.net
Cookie White is a wife, mother, breast cancer survivor and the author of "And I Heard God Whisper, 'Walk With Me.' But she considers one of her most important roles to be that of a teacher. White notes that her new 120-page book is instructional. She has a bachelor of science in elementary education, has taught professionally for many years and is a substitute teacher for Peters Township School District. As her two children grew to adulthood, she said she found that she had more time to give to things she'd always wanted to do, including writing. The author explained that her husband, Gary, provided important support, following his retirement, when he asked her what she wanted to do with her life next. After much discussion, White's husband started investigating ways that her ideas for a book could be brought to life. And I Heard God Whisper, 'Walk With Me' is the result.
"As your children grow, you find that you have more time to give to interests that you had maybe a long time ago," said White. "This was my husband's way of saying, Okay, now it is your turn. I love to teach, but my interest turned to teaching the Bible. I have a ministry now, called The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries at www.thesoundingboardteachingministries.com and I teach an online Bible study course. So, the book, And I Heard God Whisper, "Walk With Me," is a collection of a lot of Christian devotionals. "I take my daily activities, whether it is grocery shopping, sitting in a dentist's chair, whatever it may be, and there is something that usually happens that I can relate to something spiritual in life.
I want people to be aware that the Lord walks with us even when we are not in church. He walks with us through our lives every day. So, these devotionals are written to help people find Him." White went on to explain that she feels that such listening requires a certain amount of sensitivity. "Many people meditate, but through prayer and reading God's word, I feel closer to Him. My Christian life is just as important to me as anything else I do," she said. "I think these devotionals can be related to many things that happen in life.
The book is really for anyone from the age of adolescence up to the adults." The author went on to explain that she feels that her experiences with breast cancer have allowed her to relate and help others facing the same diagnosis. "The book includes four entries about breast cancer," she said. "That was a journey God gave to me and if I encounter a woman who says that she has breast cancer, I know exactly what she is feeling because I have been there. I think you have to have a lot of experiences to help people with their own journeys. We always have to ask ourselves, what can we do to help other people?"
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14
