I simply don't know how time gets away from me....wow, several days since my last post!  Actually, I'm headed to Cleveland later today to be of some help to Kimberly as she and Luke continue settling in their new home.  Her apartment has to be vacated by the 31st and many projects are ongoing at the new homestead so, who do you call?  Nope, not Ghostbusters!  MOM!  (For those of you who remember that song!)

It's been a wonderful few days as I have gotten back into a semi-routine.  I've been scrapbooking a lot and enjoying the relaxation mode.  Gary is going to surprise me when we leave Kimberly's on Saturday with a little 24-hour get-away.  However, the element of surprise is sometimes hard to do....I have a habit of trying to figure things out.  I will tell you one time I figured out that he wanted to give me a Mother's ring and when I guessed it he held off for a couple of years!!  So you think I'm guessing this time....no way!

I hope Kimberly gets all her internet hookups so I can continue to blog, but in case that doesn't happen, I'll blog all about the next few days and my surprise when I return home!  God bless you all, my friends!

It's been a nice day here in Pittsburgh.  Gary and I took a little trip north of the City for multiple purposes, but I was able to visit with one of his co-workers for a couple of hours.  Thanks Carla and Matt for being such great people and welcoming us to your home to sit "for a spell!"

We then headed to the Waterfront to drop off my precious ring (a present from Gary a couple of years ago) for its semi-annual checkup and had lunch at a quaint little place called Bar Louie's....great hamburgers!

I've been studying my Sunday School lesson for Sunday and now I'm ready to relax for the rest of the evening.....have a great day, my friends.  Enjoy your worship services tomorrow wherever you may be!  God bless!

It's Friday!!!! 07/24/2009

Aren't you just a little more excited when you open your eyes to a Friday morning?  Something about knowing you can stay up a little later and sleep a little longer the next morning makes Friday a sweet day.  Not to mention the working force gets to have the a couple of days to relax!

I've been lazier than usual...getting more sleep these last couple of nights.  I hate to admit that age might be a factor since I believe my body and mind is still recuperating from ten months of planning Kimberly's wedding.  I so enjoyed every minute and can't wait to view the professional pics because all of our friends pics have been outstanding!  Life is good.

I hope all of you enjoy a weekend that is filled with your favorite activities.  I will be filling in teaching Sunday School and need to get started with the studying process.  We have also had another baby born into the Nicastro clan (Gary's mother's side of the family)...congratulations to Gregg and Karen Hudak on the birth of Sophia Rose.  This is baby number 3 for them....all girls!  Start building bathrooms, Gregg....lots and lots of bathrooms with big receptacles!!

Have a great day, everyone....God bless!

Well, I visited the dentist and it only took 30 minutes today.  I'm in the process of having a crown made for a tooth and this was a measurment/fitting day.  One more appointment and the tooth will be completed!  Root canals and crowns....it's an age thing I'm beginning to believe!

I'm still scrapbooking and having a ball!  I want to visit a scrapbooking store in Butler, PA that one of the teachers at our high school raves about....hurry home from vacation, Tiffany, so we can head out there!

Kimberly is working on their new home and it is great to get daily updates.  Gary and I will head to Cleveland next Friday and have a painting weekend.   She's so excited about this new adventure....

Nicholas stopped by today.  He enjoys running on the trail within walking distance of our home.  It's good to have a few minutes to talk and he is part of another friend's wedding Friday night and Saturday.

Life is good....the rain has given everything a drink of water and now the sun is shining.  Have a great Thursday, my friends.  God bless!

I have always called Wednesday, "Hump Day!"  It's the middle of the week and I feel as though I'm sliding into the weekend after climbing the hill of Monday and Tuesday.  After Wednesday, it's getting closer to Friday!  (We do what we need to do in order to survive, right?)

I've enjoyed these past couple of days.  Although Gary's been out of town, I've lunched with friends, taken in a movie and begun to scrapbook Kimberly's bridal showers.  I love to scrapbook and it just doesn't seem there are enough hours in the day.  I stayed up until 1:00 a.m. with my little hobby and today, unfortunately, I'm a little more tired than usual.  Guess the age thing is catching up with me!

But I continue to relax and enjoy the summer.  This is the time of year I love being in the teaching profession!  God bless, my friends....have a great day!

Enjoying summer 07/21/2009

What a great morning!  I got to sleep in this morning and I feel refreshed and ready to go.  I've already been to the chiropractor and my back is feeling better than it has in days (too much dancing at Kimberly's wedding!).  Next, I'm having a late lunch with a friend that was our wedding coordinator.  Yesterday, I met with another friend for a movie and dinner.  The movie was a laugh out loud, tearing running down the cheeks kind of flick that deserves a second viewing.  Finally, the relaxation is kicking in and I'm truly enjoying summertime.

The estimate came in for my car....that deer did a lot of damage.  Please be careful when driving, especially at dusk and night in this area!

Have a wonderful day, my friends...God bless!

A new day! 07/20/2009

Hi my friends!  Yesterday (Sunday) was a busy, busy day.  Kimberly and Luke were back from their honeymoon.  It was great hearing all about Jamaica and then they opened their wedding presents.  We went to church, had a nice breakfast at Bob Evans, then starting packing up their cars (both had driven in at different times before the wedding).  After packing their vehicles to the limit (Luke is a great packer), they were off to Cleveland.  On Tuesday they close on their new home and begin moving in!  How extremely exciting for them!

Our son, Nicholas, attended a joint bachelor party for two of his friends getting married within two weeks of one another and the party was a camping weekend!  Nicholas said it was a great time and one of his college roommates from Texas came up for the gathering!  We had them for dinner last night and it was great catching up with Matt and hearing all about married life (he married last summer) and his professional career in...education!  Amazing how many of these young men have gone into education either teaching or administration.  It was a terrific evening.

Gary went out of town this morning for a couple of days, so the house is quieter than its been in a long while.  I'm actually enjoying the fact that I'm not on a time schedule for a few days.  Maybe I'll read one of those four books that has been stacked in a corner...or maybe I'll scrapbook (countless wedding photos!)....

I'm still waiting word on my car....no telling what damage the leaping deer did to my little vehicle!  Well, have a great day and God Bless!

Oh, deer! 07/18/2009

Well, it's getting close to midnight so I must hurry with the blog for the 18th!  Do I have a story for you, my friends!  After a quiet dinner last night with my husband, we were called by friends saying they had pictures of Kimberly's wedding for us.  We invited them over for coffee and dessert and stopped by "The Pie Place" and bought a gorgeous looking apple pie.  Then we headed home.  On the way, a deer leaped out of nowhere about a 1/4 of a mile from home.  It tried to leap over our car and didn't make it.  The back end of this deer (quite large in size) hit the windshield on Gary's side and rolled over the top of the car.  Amazingly, we weren't hurt, but the car is in terrible condition....so was my pie.  Pieces of glass were everywhere including in my pie box!

Unfortunately, this is the SECOND time in THREE months a deer has leaped in front of my little Malibu Max.  The first time it was the grill and the hood....this time it's the windshield and the sun roof....my, oh, my....I'm really having a hard time feeling sorry for deer around here.  I think this population has to be sized down.  It's clearly not our fault and we have to pay out of pocket each time a deer runs out in front of our cars.  Okay, I've complained enough....we are unharmed and we could have been.  God has protected us once again from deer hurting us personally.  Maybe I should invest in a scooter??  Take care, my friends and God Bless!

It's Friday! 07/17/2009

Well, hello my friends...it's Friday!  I just love Fridays...we heard from the honeymooners yesterday and they are having a wonderful time in Jamaica!  There are a lot of activties at a Sandals' resort and they have taken advantage of the snorkeling, kayaking, volleyball and countless other offerings including the varied crusine.  Today is their last full day of sun and fun and then they head back to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning.  Can't wait to hear all about it!

Nicholas is headed on a camping outing with two of his friends who are getting married within two weeks of one another.  Evidently, this is a new way to enjoy a Bachelor Party and take in the great outdoors!

I'm working on correspondence today....so many cards, letters and thank yous need to be written to all the gracious individuals who helped make our wedding event last weekend a success.  It's good to just sit, ponder and write.  Next week I hope to get out the scrapbooks!

Have a wonderful Friday, everyone....thanks so much for clicking and reading!  May God bless you all.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends who lost a loved one this week.  In the midst of happiness for us, someone else is in the midst of sorrow....we need to keep each other in constant prayer and petition.

This morning I'm headed out to the dentist....life is returning to normal!  I was able to finish cleaning my house, doing my laundry and getting to the grocery store yesterday!  Gary and I even took a bike ride after dinner last night.  I saw some of my neighbors on the trail at the end of our bike ride and they have concluded that I need to start praying for rain.  They chuckled that so many people were praying for no rain last weekend that we'd better reverse the prayers.  It is very dry here with a prediction of rain on Friday and Saturday.

I know Kimberly's cat, Kauai, is feeling the effects of her absence.  Kauai is meowing a little more and checking out all the rooms in the house periodically to see if Kimberly can be found.  We all look forward to seeing Kimberly and Luke on Saturday....can't wait to hear about their adventures in Jamaica!

Have a great day, my friends....God bless!
