Ever go into pockets of your clothes before you throw them into the washer and suprisingly find change or perhaps some dollar bills? You feel like you have just been given a present, right? An unexpected boost to a rather ordinary task? That's the way I've felt over the past week as I've become one of the newest members of a site called "Facebook."
Since visiting my parents in Virginia during the month of April, I've reconnected with some very "old" (not in age, but in years of acquaintance) friends. Each one of these dear friends have urged me to join Facebook and a world of communication would be laid at my doorstep.
They were right. I've seen pictures from our youth, heard discussions of days gone by and been privileged to be updated on their current status of activities and family members. It's as though God has filled the pockets of my daily routine with nuggets of precious memories. My prayer today is that everyone who reads this blog will find themselves the proud owners of unexpected change in the form of a renewed, almost forgotten friendship!
Have a great weekend, my friends!
Although my son doesn't like me to make a lot of noise about his birthday, I just can't help myself....I've waited a whole day and decided I'm going to write about him and the day of his birth!
His birthday this year is very significant. You see, he turned 27 years old on May 27th! I can remember that day like it WAS yesterday! I went into labor 5 1/2 weeks early for no particular reason except Nicholas just decided it was time to break out of the womb. I was a mom for the first time, living 6 1/2 hours from my mother and having moved into Pittsburgh, PA only five months before Nicholas' birth. Basically, I knew only a few individuals we had met through the church and our Newcomer's Club.
I was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, May 26th and the doctor waited for my body to go into labor since there were indications of my water beginning to "leak"..... After several hours it was determined I should get a good night's rest and the doctor would aid the labor process in the morning.
On the morning of May 27, 1982 at 10:54 a.m. Nicholas Garbee White entered the world and our lives and we've never been the same. It's pure beyond words when you hold that baby in your arms for the first time and look at his tiny features, counting all the fingers and toes to make sure everything is in place!
Twenty seven years later, I'm still in awe. Nicholas is a handsome, intelligent man who loves the Lord. He is a sixth grade teacher, youth leader at our church and avid sports fan and participant. He has spent nearly his entire existence involved in sports and continues to play soccer, softball and deck hockey. He's a wonderful man and reminds me often of his dad, another wonderful, intelligent man.
Thanks for reading, my friends. A mom just has to tell her friends how great her kids are, right?
I hope each one of you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend. It was another treasured memory for me. I attended another bridal shower for my daughter, Kimberly, who will be married the 11th of July this year. The time is ticking away as we draw closer to the "main event"! Kimberly and I are so excited and thrilled to be sharing so many great times together.
My husband and I then traveled to Ohio on Monday and toured the house Kimberly and Luke (our future son-in-law) are in the process of buying. It is truly an overwhelming time in their lives as they prepare for the wedding, move into a new home after their honeymoon and enjoy an abundance of gifts being accumulated at these showers!
Can't you remember the thrill of starting your married life with the one you love? The excitement and joy of being together and sharing each new gift given by a loved one? My prayer is that we all experience that "newness" of our relationships by reflecting on the yesterdays, thanking God for the privilege to be in the todays and rejoicing that because God loved us enough to send Christ Jesus we have the assurance of an eternal tomorrow. Have a wonderful week, my friends!
Hello, my friends. It's another beautiful Sunday here in western Pennsylvania! Although the weather is a little cooler than normal, it's a gorgeous, sun-filled day! I hope each of you had a dynamic celebration of worship this morning and enjoyed singing praises and feasting on the meal of God's Word prepared by your pastors.
As I taught Sunday School this morning, God reminded me that I am a steward entrusted with information from God to share with others. Using Ephesians, Chapter 3 as a springboard, I was convicted of my need to carry out the instructions God has laid upon my life...to tell others about His saving grace, unconditional love and all inclusive forgiveness. I pray this week will be one that truly ministers to your heart, uplifts your soul and feeds to overflowing your spiritual hunger. God bless each and every one of you!
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! It's been a great day. I was able to celebrate with both my children and my soon to be son-in-law! How wonderful is that! I also was able to attend church with my children, have a delicious pasta lunch (complete with desserts that will take a week to lose the calorie intake!) and given a gorgeous necklace that designates me as mom for the world to see!
I hope that each of you enjoyed your day and that you were able to worship the Lord with those you love. My prayers and thoughts are also going out to those who might be going through this Mother's Day without their moms. I pray that the God of comfort and peace with hold you tightly in HIs secure embrace and may it give you joy to know that your mom is celebrating this day with Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Wow, what a week! As we get to our two month mark before our daughter's wedding, the planning and running errands increases. Not to mention I decided it was a good time to spruce up the house and re-do a couple of rooms! What am I...nuts??
Tonight I'm headed to the high school prom! Yep, the high school prom is where I'll be for about an hour. A few of the teachers decided to go to the hotel and watch as the students file in. It's going to be a blast to see these students dressed up and ready to celebrate!
Tomorrow is a busy day as my husband and myself, along with one of the pastors from our church, teach a pre-marriage seminar. Nine couples are to be in attendance. Pray for us that God will use our presentations to honor Him and the institution of mar
Happy Sunday! It's been a wonderful morning at our church. The sermon was excellent, the music heartwarming and Sunday School was terrific! I always enjoy learning more about God's Word and this morning I was reminded that God lavishes the riches of His grace upon us! Lavishes....isn't that an extraordinary term?? In essence, God gives us a bubble bath in the riches of His grace! Now for the men reading this blog bubble baths and God probably don't equate, but it is a luxurious event in the life of a woman. If I can come up with an example for you guys I'll post it later!
Have a wonderful day in the Lord, my friends!
