Welcome to The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries' online ministry!
The first of October....everything pumpkin is popping out everywhere! I just noticed on the shelves of the local grocer a box of Pumpkin Spice cereal! It's become big business to purchase a taste or smell of pumpkin or cinnamon this time of year as you shop at your favorite arts and crafts venues. Maybe you and yours will take a hayride into the fields of a surrounding farm for games, apples and your choice of a pumpkin. Whatever you enjoy during this crisp season of weather changes, we are all noticing the shorter daylight span and leaves rapidly changing colors as the last of the flowers are bursting forth before the first frost. Yes, it's a grand time of year. My husband particularly enjoys the lessening growth of grass as he entertains when he might store the lawn mower for a few months. Of course storing his golf clubs isn't done with the same level of excitement! But excitement abounds as The Sounding Board Teaching Ministries has been busily meeting all our fall commitments. I have written about the McKeesport Fall Retreat under the link for speaking engagements. What an absolutely fantastic weekend of sharing and making new friends! We are so grateful to have been given that opportunity and look forward to more lovely times together. Also on that particular link is the information about an upcoming event at Southminster Presbyterian Church in December. I am doing my very best to have a new devotional placed on the link "Resting in His Word" each week. It has been such an extremely busy fall I have fallen behind with my love of writing which includes the every day blessings God enables me to encounter. During the month of November I will once again place on this link day by day something I am thankful for or have experienced. I hope as many of you as can will reply and share with us during the month of giving thanks!
There have been many occurrences throughout the past months as we watched the devastation of floods, hurricanes and earthquakes take the homes and lives of our fellow Americans while wildfires blazed on the west coast. Added to these heart wrenching situations we witnessed debates over issues resulting in what many have thought to be a disrespect for our military and the memory of those who died to protect our country. Additionally, last night reports surfaced of a man, who at this time the cause is unknown, take weapons up the 32nd floor of a hotel in Las Vegas and begin to shoot into a crowd gathered on a lawn to attend a country music festival. At this point 38 people are known to be dead and hundreds wounded. What is going on, we all ask? When will it all end? Sin entered this world thousands of years ago when Satan tempted Eve and she allowed, through the gift of free will, to question God and seek what she deemed the best option. Sin is still in the world. God still rules and wants us to seek His direction. You still have free will until breath leaves your earthly body. Choose wisely whom you will serve.
Father, thank you for this season of the year. We offer you the gift of praise, Lord. At this moment we ask that you will give the doctors and nurses knowledge and wisdom needed to take care of all those injured last night in Las Vegas, for those Father who today or early this morning were informed that their loved ones are not coming home safe and sound. Please be with those who are still cleaning out their homes from flood waters and for those needing a new home due to destruction by water or fire. As Americans open the gates of generosity and money is funneled into organizations, may these monies get into the hands and possession of those in need. We praise you for life, as many of us are reminded we are entering the fall season of our lives, and time's awasting'! As our pace slows a bit may you be magnified in everything we say and do. May all of us come together to be unified in the cause of Christ leaving bitterness and self-righteousness at the door as we cross over into the newness of life offered in Christ our Lord. For it is in the name of Jesus, the One who gave His life so that we might live eternally we pray, Amen.
We hope that you will take a few minutes to check out our links and find out a bit more about us. Cookie White is the founder of this ministry and she holds a B.S. Degee in Elementary Education and is certification as a Women's Life Coach. It has been her prayer that the information and lessons she learned with this certification will aid her in assisting the needs of women.
Cookie loves to write and her published books are shared on the website and discussed in greater detail, but her heartbeat is being able to share what God continues to teach her through her study of the Bible. She has been involved as a facilitator in numerous studies and has been a keynote speak at women's retreats.
We pray this ministry and everything that is taught and spoken will be pleasing to the Lord and bring souls to Him.
